Questions and Answers

  1. Why do I need to do backups?

  2. When should I do backups?

  3. Backup basics and related articles from Microsoft.

  4. Backup Process.

Ways to do the backup

  • Backup to a disc (Floppy, tape, CD or DVD)

This is the simple way to backup your files. You can do it by yourself using various tools, that you may already have, to make a copy of your files to floppy, tape, CD or DVDs.

  • Backup to another hard drive (internal or external)

For this kind of backup, you need an extra hard drive beside whatever you are using as the system drive (usually Drive C). You can add a hard drive (internal or external) easily if your system

only has one.

If you don't know how to add the internal hard drive to your computer, please call us to help you. If you buy an external one, you need to plug it in to the USB hub (or whatever connection scheme it uses) and leave it on all the time.

There are two ways to do this kind of backup:

  1. Do it manually. What you need to do is to select the files/folders that you want to backup and copy and paste them to the backup-drive.

  2. Do it Automatically. To do it automatically, you need to install special software and setup a schedule to do it automatically according to the time you have setup, or whenever it detects changes. Please call us for more information. We can walk you through by telephone, or we can meet you and help to set it up for you.

  • Online backup

There are many places providing online backup services. It is a very secure and convenience way to do your backups, especially for a business. The only disadvantage for this kind of services is that you have to have an internet connection on whenever you want to do the online backup.

Please call us for more information about online backup.
